This November, things are about to get a little wild.
The Great Gingerbread Build-Off is growing into a month-long celebration of creativity, competition and community — with more ways than ever to build, compete, cheer and get involved.
From local businesses battling for gingerbread bragging rights, to students taking on the all-new Build-Off Academy, to hands-on workshops for our youngest builders, November is going to be packed with gingerbread mayhem.
And it all supports Habitat for Humanity Northumberland and our work to help more people in our community access safe, decent and affordable housing.

Three ways to get in on the action!
The competition you know and love — now with an audience! Local businesses and community teams go head-to-head in an action-packed gingerbread building competition filled with challenges, surprises and plenty of friendly rivalry. And for the first time, we're opening the doors to spectators at the Lions Community Centre in Cobourg. Come for the competition. Stay for the chaos.
School pride. Teamwork. Gingerbread. Game on. New for 2026, the Great Gingerbread Build-Off Academy brings the competition to middle and high school students. Teams will meet at the Port Hope High School gym for their own fast-paced gingerbread showdown, complete with challenges, creativity and some unexpected roadblocks along the way. Which team will rise to the top?
Big imaginations. Little builders. Lots of icing. Kids 12 and under can get in on the gingerbread fun too! Our hands-on workshops give young builders the chance to decorate their own gingerbread creations, get creative and experience some holiday magic — all while learning that even our smallest builders can help make a difference in their community.
