Habitat Dedication - March 11th - Beech St. in Bewdley
This is our first dedication in 2022, and in Hamilton Township. This house has had quite the journey. We officially broke ground on this project on World Habitat Day on October 1st, 2018 with plans to build a house on the property in 2020. Then the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and plans changed.
Balder Corporation offered Habitat Northumberland a house, that we moved over summer of 2020 and relocate it to Bewdley. Once on its new foundation, Habitat began renovating the house to repurpose it as a new affordable homeownership unit.
In March, we happily dedicated this home with the Atkinson-Harris family. Congratulations to Mike, Amber, Cieran, Declan and Anika, we are so happy for you!
Habitat Dedication - March 18th - Daintry Cres. in Cobourg.
A week after our last dedication we were able to welcome another family as Habitat homeowners. On March 18th, we dedicated a house for our 62nd family. Like the Bewdley house, this house had a similar journey.
A house move from one side of Cobourg to the next meant that this house was also a renovation. The house broke ground in 2020, moved later that year and subsequently was renovated over the course of 2021.
We happily dedicated this home with the May-Kearsey family. Congratulations to Jenny, Cora & Kaylen, welcome to the Habitat family!
Habitat Dedication - June 15th - Alexandria Drive
in Cobourg.
We are so pleased to announce that we just dedicated our 3rd home this year! With volunteers, staff and dignitaries we are happy to welcome our newest Habitat homeowner, Naomi Harper and her family, this afternoon.
In 2021, Habitat Northumberland purchased back this home when the Habitat homeowner wanted to sell. Habitat always has the first right to purchase back a unit when a homeowner decides to sell their unit. Over the winter and spring minor renovations took place on this home to make it suitable for a new family.
It was a lovely day and we're so happy to have provided another family with the opportunity to build strength, stability and independence through affordable homeownership.
