Community Engagement Coordinator

About the Role:
The position is responsible for coordinating and implementing the community engagement program for Habitat for Humanity Northumberland. The position will oversee the management of the volunteer support program, including recruiting, scheduling, recognizing and retaining volunteers for all of HFHN’s operation. The position will also oversee HFHN’s general community engagement and outreach. The position will also support all future homeowners in the completion of their sweat equity and the successful move into affordable homeownership. The ideal candidate will be community-focused, with networking & communication, as well as strong organizational skills. Responsibilities include:

Implement an annual volunteer recruitment plan

Oversee the implementation of HFHN’s volunteer training and orientation program;
-
Ensure that volunteer events are posted and kept up to date;
-
Assist with tracking data in the volunteer database;
-
Support communication strategies that update volunteers on event schedules and volunteer opportunities;
-
Recruit, schedule, and provide orientation for any businesses or other volunteer teams participating in home builds;
-
Support family partners in the completion of sweat equity hours and their transition into homeowners;
-
Work with the Habitat team to ensure a strong and welcoming volunteer program on all events and team-build days;
-
Participate in community organizations, committees and groups that could help broaden the reach of Habitat and generate support for our programs;
-
Develop and implement an annual recognition plan to recognize and thank volunteers for their contributions;
-
Work to ensure that Habitat Northumberland has a presence in the local community through an effective community engagement plan;
-
Implement Habitat Canada’s Meaning of Home Contest with local schools;
-
Other, as required;
Qualifications:
-
Experience working with volunteers and engaging members of our community;
-
Excellent interpersonal skills;
-
Administrative experience and computer skills;
-
Excellent communication and networking skills;
-
Ability to think strategically, multi-task and deliver work on time;

Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
-
Carry a valid Ontario Driver’s G License and have access to a vehicle;

Ability to work flexible hours – some nights and weekends; and
-
Commit to the mission of Habitat for Humanity Northumberland and representing that mission within the community.

ReStore Pick-Up and Receiving Associate

About this role:
All Restore staff will work cooperatively as part of a cohesive team with an understanding that Habitat for Humanity ReStore acquires, markets, and sells used and surplus building materials and supplies to ensure the generation of revenue to Habitat for Humanity Northumberland to build local affordable housing. The ReStore Pick-up and Receiving Associate will be primarily responsible for picking up donated products from the community and supporting the processing and merchandising of that product. As such the ReStore Pick-Up and Receiving Associate will be an ambassador for the ReStore and for Habitat for Humanity Northumberland’s mission in the community. Strong customer service skills are needed to ensure that all customers, volunteers, and donors are receiving the best experience possible.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The ReStore Pick-Up and Receiving Associate will be primarily responsible for picking-up donated product from the community and working alongside volunteers and ReStore staff to assist in the movement and coordination of materials from the ReStore truck to the ReStore sales floor. This will also include confirming the product has been processed correctly before it has been placed on the sales floor. Additionally, the ReStore Pick-Up and Receiving Associate will:

Maintain an excellent driving record;
-
Adhere to the daily schedule of pick-ups and deliveries in consultation as prepared by the ReStore Coordinator

Act as Habitat for Humanity Northumberland’s ambassador while picking up product from donors by providing excellent customer service and promoting the mission of Habitat in the community;
-
Perform initial inspection of pick-up donations offered and determine suitability of items, detailed of processing required, repairs necessary;
-
Timely report any safety concerns regarding the truck or material pick-ups to the ReStore Coordinator;
-
Ensure that truck is unloaded and cleaned out following each run and all items are properly stored;
-
Ensure the truck contains such tools and equipment as are necessary to ensure the safe loading and unloading of donated merchandise;
-
Collect, review and action vehicle inspection checklists;
-
Coordinate appropriate and timely service/maintenance of the truck;
-
Work, as part of a cohesive team, to meet and exceed established sales targets;
-
Assist with store opening and closing, customer service, and the cash desk;
-
Oversee and manage the volunteers on the truck. Assist managing volunteers in Back Shop/Donation Centre;
-
Be familiar with customer policies and procedures;
-
Promote the mission and vision of Habitat for Humanity Northumberland to customers and donors;
-
Support the ReStore Manager/ReStore Receiving Associate in the processing and management of donations in the backroom operations;

Support the ReStore Floor Manager to ensure that donations are processed and in good condition;
Qualifications:

Retail experience;
-
G Driver’s license and an excellent driving record;

Strong people skills;
-
Strong communication skills;
-
Experience working with volunteers would be an asset;

Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines;

Ability to work independently and as part of a team;

Ability to work on weekends;
-
Ability to lift or assist lifting 50 pounds;
